Thank You Manny Acta

I want to personally want to thank Manny Acta for his time in DC. I think he did a decent job with the hand that was dealt to him. He did it with class and was a great role model. I believe his worst asset was Jim Bowden. He did not give Manny the tools to succeed.

Best of Luck to Manny on his next job and God Bless You!

Also good luck to Jim Riggleman, but I believe his fate is already written in stone!

The Nats look terrible in lost to Cubs, 3-1.

The Nats look terrible again in a 3-1 lost to the Cubs. The offense has gone south and Cubs’ pitcher Carlos Zambrano was the offense star of the game with a two run double.

Pitching:

Craig Stammen pitched well enough to win as he pitched 6 innings and gave up only 3 runs. The bullpen did not allow a run tonight.

Batting:

The Nats collected 5 hits and scored one run. Njger Morgan lead the Nats with three hits. The only run of the game was a bases loaded walk by Willie Harris.

Nats fall apart as Rockies win 5-4.

The Nats squander a 4-1 lead in a 5-4 lost to the Rockies. Bad defense and leaving eight men on base attribute to their lost in Colorado.

Pitching:
Jordan Zimmermann did not have command like he has had in last couple of outings by lasting only 4 innings and giving up 4 runs. Jason Bergmann and Sean Burnett combined for 3 shut out innings of relief. Julian Tavarez took the lost as he gave one run in his .1 inning of work. Joe Beimel was not charged with a run but did allowed the inherited runner to score in his .2 inning of work.

Batting:

The Nats collected 12 hits and 4 runs. Josh Bard, Ryan Zimmerman, Josh Willingham and Nick Johnson all had two hits a piece. Willingham hit a solo homer which was his 10th of the year and Zimmerman hit his 14th on a 3 run shot.

Sara and I at the BallPark!

My daughter, Sara, and I were at the BallPark on Sunday! A great time! I am 4-3 when I am in the House!

Here are some pics of her!

Consequence or NOT!

I took a picture of Nyjer Morgan when he was with the Pirates on the NATS scoreboard early this year to test out my camera!

Nats win series on Sunday with a 5-3 victory over the Braves.

The Nats scored a 5-3 victory against the Braves yesterday as they won this holiday weekend series. But it wasn’t easy as the Braves had the go ahead runner on in the 9th inning, but Mike MacDougal earned his 5th save for Scott Olsen second win of the year.

Pitching:

Olsen pitched a great 8.2 innings to give the Nats’ starters back to back 8 inning outings. Mike MacDougal came in the 9th inning to pick up his 5th save of the year.

Batting:

The Nats collected 5 runs on 14 hits. Nyjer Morgan led the Nats with three hits and a stolen base. Cristen Guzman, Ronnie Belliard and Olsen each added two hits a piece.

Box Score:

Nats9's Fan unsure about the future of the starting pitching!

The poll of my Nats9 followers really did give much input on the latest poll which tells me we as fans are unsure about the future of our starting pitching.

Happy 4th of July Comeback versus the Braves,5-3!

The Nats might have pulled off their most exciting victory of the year as they beat the Braves 5-3 on the 4th of July! The Nats was only able to get 1 run in 7 innings against the Braves’ starter Tommy Hanson, but scored 4 runs in the 8th off the Braves’ bullpen for a 5-3 win!

Pitching:

John Lannan pitched 8 tough innings for his 6th victory of the year by allowing only 3 runs. Mike MacDougal came in the 9th inning to pick up his 4th save of the year.

Batting:

The Nats collected 5 runs on only 7 hits. Adam Dunn led the Nats with two hits which included his 22nd homer of the year and 300th of his career! Dunn also added the hit that put the Nats ahead for good in the 8th inning with a RBI single. Ryan Zimmerman had two RBI on a bases loaded single in the 8th to tie the game at three. Josh Willingham also had a clutch hit to produce an RBI to give the Nats an important insurance run in the 8th.

Box Score:

http://washington.nationals.mlb.com/news/boxscore.jsp?gid=2009_07_04_atlmlb_wasmlb_1

Record:

The Nats improve to 23-55 and continue to be in last place of the NL East.

Next Game:

The Nats finish up the quick home stand tomorrow as Scott Olsen takes on the Braves’ Derek Lowe at 1:35pm.

Nats comeback comes up short against Braves, 9-8.

The Nats offense produced 8 runs in last night’s game versus the Atlanta Braves but it was not enough in a 9-8 lost. The Nats had the tying run on base in the 9th inning, but Josh Bard was unable to produce a game tying hit. The Nats pitching again was the main culprit in the lost.

Pitching:

Ross Detwiler only lasted 3.1 innings in his start and he gave up 5 runs and 10 hits. The bullpen did not do any better. The pen gave up 4 more runs in the lost. The play of the game was a pinch 3-run homer by Braves’ Brooks Conrad off Jesus Colome in the 7th inning who took the lost. Julian Tavarez also walked in the 9th run of the game in the 8th inning.

Batting:

The Nats collected 8 hits, and scored 8 runs. The Nats were led by Cristen Guzman’s two hits and three RBI . Adam Dunn connected on his 21st homer of the year and I must add it was a blast!

Box score:

http://washington.nationals.mlb.com/news/boxscore.jsp?gid=2009_07_03_atlmlb_wasmlb_1

Record:

The Nats dropped to 22-55 and continue to be in last place of the NL East.

Next Game:

The Nats next game is today at 1:05 pm as John Lannan takes on the Braves’ Tommy Hanson on the 4th of July!

Nats get swept by the Marlins in FLA!

The quick overview of the three games I missed while the Nats were in Florida due to internet issues.

Game 1:
The Nats blew a fine performance by Scott Olsen by losing to the Marlins 4-2 after the game was tied through the first 7 innings. The bullpen gave up two runs in the eighth in the lost. Ryan Zimmerman hit his 13th homer of the year.

Game 2:
The Nats blew a 5-1 lead in a 7-5 lost in a seven inning rain shorten game. The bullpen once again let a 5-4 lead turn into a 7-5 lost by giving up 3 runs late in the game. Adam Dunn hit his 20th homer of the year in the game.

Box Score:

http://washington.nationals.mlb.com/news/boxscore.jsp?gid=2009_06_30_wasmlb_flomlb_1

Game 3:
The Nats once again had a 3-2 lead in the 7th inning but gave up three runs in the last two innings to get swept by the Marlins. Jordan Zimmerman gave a solid six innings in a no decision. The Marlins are now 9-0 against the Nats this year.
