Nieves' Injury!

Wil Nieves injured his hamstring last night in the four to two lost to the Phillies. The injury had GM Mike Rizzo make a trade with the Seattle Mariners for catcher Jaime Burke for cash considerations. Jesus Flores was put on the 60 day DL

The Lonesome Flores' BLUES!

Word has already been out our young catcher Jesus Flores injuring his shoulder. It will be approximately six months for him to recover and hopefully he will be able to participate in the middle of spring training.

We all want to see Jesus for a full year because we believe he is a decent overall catcher. But there are questions about his health! What should the Nats do? Get a more complete back up then Josh Bard and Wil Nieves? Who is out there? Do we draft the Harper fellow? There are many questions about the catching positon. I believe only time will tell. It might be Mike Rizzo most important decesion of the off season.

Nats' Nuggets 9.13.09

Here are some of my Nuggets:

  • Logan Kensing should be handed his LAST pink slip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Ian Desmond should be given the oppurinity to win the the SS job in 2010.
  • Cristen Guzman should embrace the 2nd Base job. He can still hit, but his range on defense is not what it once was when he was younger.
  • J.D Martin is making his case to be on the 2010 starting rotation.
  • Willingham, Morgan and Dukes are looking like the starting outfield in 2o10, but if Maxwell learns how to hit then I believe he could be the 4th outfielder in 2010.

Marlins Smack the Nats, 11-3.

Marlins 11 Nats 3

The Nats’ pitching gave up eleven runs while the offense only manage threes run on ten hits in the 11-3 lost to the Marlins.

Pitching:

Starter Marco Estrada pitched only 2.1 innings while giving up five runs. The bullpen of Saul Rivera and Ross Detwiler keep the game close as they pitched 2.2 innings of work as they did not give up the run.
