I am a Washington National fan since they came to town in 2005. Nats9 comes from my favorite number,9, and no current National has the number nine so hence the name of my blog.

The Nats are 10-4 in games that are determined by 3 runs or less.
The Nats are 3-8 in games that are determined by 4 runs or more.

Will Bruney turn it around?
The Nats' reliever Brian Bruney is really struggling. He is 1-1 with a 6.23 ERA. He has pitched 13 innings while giving up 15 hits an d 15 walks.
I am sure Riggs is losing faith in Bruney in close games. Bruney was suppose to be a mainstay in the Pen this year, but right now he is bringing back visons of last years' bullpen. Riggs thou have to suck it up because Bruney has no more minor league options.
I wonder if this performance continues it will speed up Drew Storen call up.

The Fish pound the Nats, 9-3.
The Nats had an early 2-0 led but it quickly came apart as the Marlins out scored them 9-1 for the rest of the game. The Marlins' bat were too much for the Nats' pitching in the Marlins, 9-3 victory. Both teams are now 13-12.
Pitching:
John Lannan is showing inconsistency this year. He started off well with two innings with no runs, but fell apart the next 3 innings. He pitched only 5 innings while giving up 6 runs. Miguel Batista gave up one run in one inning of relief. Brian Bruney is struggling very badly. He pitched only 1.2 innings while giving up 3 walks and 2 runs. Matt Capps had to pitch .1 inning to close the deal for Bruney.
Hitting:
The Nats got 3 runs on 6 hits. Six different Nats got hits.

Nats Bats Go Swimming with the Fishes. Marlins Tops Nats, 7-1.
The Nats offense was not to be found which was compounded by mediocre pitching and poor defense. The Florida Marlins out played the Nats from pitching, hitting and defense to led them to victory by a score of 7-1.
Pitching:
The pitching was not very good from starter Craig Stammen who managed only 4 innings while giving up 4 runs. Tyler Walker was not much better as he pitched 3 innings as he surrendered 3 runs. Sean Burnett was the lone bright spot as he pitched a scoreless 8th inning.
Hitting:
The Nats only scored one run on four hits. Ryan Zimmerman led the Nats with two hits. Ivan Rodriquez had an RBI.

Go Nats!
Zim is Back! Nats tops the Fish.
The power of Ryan Zimmerman, the pitching of Scott Olsen and the glove of Njyer Morgan led the Nats over the Florida Marlins, 7-1. The Nats are currently in second place in the NL East.
Pitching:
Scott Olsen had another good start by pitching 6 innings of shut out ball. Brian Brueny came in and was not as sharp and gave up a run in less of an inning. Tyler Clifford came in to relieve Brueny and shut down the Marlin but he got some serious help from the defense. The bases were loaded and the score at the time was 5-1 with two outs. Marlins' Ronnie Paulino hit a stinking line drive to center field which ended up in up in Nyjer Morgan's glove after he dived for the ball. Clifford's response to the play was WOW! Miguel Batista ended the game for the Nationals in the ninth.
Hitting:
The Nats scored 7 runs on 13 hits. Ryan Zimmerman led the Nats with 3 hits and 3 RBI. Ryan hit two homers in the game which was his first multi-homer game this year.
