I am not really sure why people are surprise by the decision that Ian Desmond was named the starting shortstop. He played a great shortstop in September to end last year and he has kept it rolling this Spring! Cristian Guzman just came off surgery and his range is not what it once was when he first came to Washington in 2005. Guzman is beginning that stage of his career where "Jack-of-All Trades" will keep him getting a nice paycheck.
I response to all the posts I read about this situation as...DUH! It's Desmond.
