Happy 4th of July Comeback versus the Braves,5-3!

The Nats might have pulled off their most exciting victory of the year as they beat the Braves 5-3 on the 4th of July! The Nats was only able to get 1 run in 7 innings against the Braves’ starter Tommy Hanson, but scored 4 runs in the 8th off the Braves’ bullpen for a 5-3 win!

Pitching:

John Lannan pitched 8 tough innings for his 6th victory of the year by allowing only 3 runs. Mike MacDougal came in the 9th inning to pick up his 4th save of the year.

Batting:

The Nats collected 5 runs on only 7 hits. Adam Dunn led the Nats with two hits which included his 22nd homer of the year and 300th of his career! Dunn also added the hit that put the Nats ahead for good in the 8th inning with a RBI single. Ryan Zimmerman had two RBI on a bases loaded single in the 8th to tie the game at three. Josh Willingham also had a clutch hit to produce an RBI to give the Nats an important insurance run in the 8th.

Record:

The Nats improve to 23-55 and continue to be in last place of the NL East.


Next Game:

The Nats finish up the quick home stand tomorrow as Scott Olsen takes on the Braves’ Derek Lowe at 1:35pm.
