Nats comeback attempt fall short against Mets, 9-5.

The Nats fell behind the New York Mets by a score of 8-0 in yesterday game. The Nats would out score the Mets 5 to 1 the rest of the way but still lost. The Nats had many opportunities to get closer but they left ten men on base. The Nats fall to 36-47 and are still in last place of the NL East.


Pitching:

Craig Stammen could not put together solid back to back starts as he took the lost as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up 7 runs. Miguel Batista gave up 2 runs in his 3 innings of relief work, but he did strike out 7 Mets. Sean Burnett, Tyler Clifford and Joe Peralta combined for 2.2 innings of shut out relief.

Hitting:

The Nats scored 5 runs on 12 hits. Cristen Guzman and Ryan Zimmerman led the Nats with 3 hits a piece. Zimmerman hit his 14th homer of the year and also had 4 RBI.
