Cards Thump Nats, 9-4

Cardinals 9 Nats 4

The Cardinals broke a tight game early due to a Cristen Guzman error. The Cardinals beat the Nats 9-4.


Pitching:

Starter Craig Stammen took the lost as he pitched 4.2 innings and gave up 6 runs, but only 3 were earned. The bullpen of Ron Villone, Jorge Sosa, Saul Rivera and Jason Bergmann gave up 3 addition runs in their combine 3.1 innings of work.

Batting:

The Nats collected 11 hits, and scored 4 runs. Pete Orr led the Nats with four hits. Also, Ryan Zimmerman had 2 RBI and Adam Dunn hit his 35th homer of the year.

Record:

The Nats dropped to 46-84 and continue to be in last place of the NL East.

The Nats next game is today in St. Louis against the Cardinals as Garrett Mock takes on the Cardinals’ Adam Wainwright at 2:15 pm.
