Ker-Plunk! Dunn takes one for the team! Nats beat Marlins 5-4.

The Nats were finally able to outlast the Florida Marlins yesterday. The Nats got the go ahead score in the bottom of the 8th inning when Adam Dunn got hit by a pitch to force in a run. The game was back in forth the whole game, the Nat were able to pull it off in the 8th inning. The Nats are currently 16-14 and in 3rd place in the NL East.


Pitching:

Matt Chico was called up from Harrisburg and did an excellent job as he pitched 5 plus innings while giving up two runs. Miguel Batista did not allow an run in his 1.1 innings of work. Sean Burnett gave up one run in his .1 inning in his brief stint. Tyler Clifford who been very good this year gave up a two run homer to earn his 3rd blown save in his 1.1 innings of relief. Clifford became the beneficiary by gaining his 5 victory of the year by the Nats' win. Matt Capps was Matt Capps as he earned his 12th save in 12 tries in the 9th inning.


Hitting:

The Nats scored 5 runs on eight hits. Cristen Guzman and Josh Willingham led the Nats with two hits apiece. Willie Harris and Josh Willingham both homered in the game. Harris' homer was his 3rd and Willingham's homer was his 5th.
