Homers Away! Phillies beat Nats, 5-3.

The Nats gave up long ball after long ball in the late innings as they lost to the Phillies, 5-3. The Nats gave up exactly five solo homers in the defeat.

Pitching:

Starter John Lannan pitched a great first six innings, but only pitched 2/3 innings more as he gave up 4 runs and three of them came in the 7th inning. The bullpen of Tyler Clippard, Sean Burnett, Jason Bergmann and Saul Rivera gave up 1 run in 2.1 innings of relief work.


Batting:

The Nats collected 9 hits and scored only 3 runs while leaving 10 men on bases. The Nats were led by Willie Harris, Cristen Guzman, and Wil Nieves each had two hits apiece. Harris hit his 7th homer of the year.

The Nats dropped to 47-91 and continue to be in last place of the NL.
