Mets beats the Nats at Citi, 5-2

Gary Sheffield's 3 run homer was the difference in the 5-2 Mets' win over the Nats last night. Starter John Lannan pitched 5 innings plus and giving up all of the five runs. Relievers Jesus Colome, Daniel Cabrera, Jason Bergmann and Kip Wells gave up no runs in their combined 3 innings of work.

The Nats offense had only 2 runs with their six hits, but the Mets gave them nine walks. The Nats left 13 men on base during the game. Wil Nieves lead the Nats with two hits.

The Nats drop to 13-31 and continue to be in last place of the NL East.

Tonight's game has Craig Stammen taking on former Nat's Livan Hernandez in Citi Field at 7:10pm.
