Nats come up short again against the Phillies, 9-6

Ryan Howard hit two blasts with 5 RBI and the Phillies handed Shairon Martis his first lost of the year by a score of 9-6. Martis, Nats' starter, only lasted 4 innings and gave up 7 runs. Reliever Mike MacDougal gave up two unearn runs aided by Anderson Hernandez error. The other reliever of Jason Bergmann, Ron Villone, , Juilian Tavarez, Kip Wells and Jesus Colome did not give up any run in their relief work.

The offense had it going again, but 11 hits and 6 runs were not enough against the Phillies. Hernandez, Nick Johnson and Alberto Gonzalez each got two hits apiece. Ronnie Belliard had a pinch hit homer in his only at bat.
