A Double Downer versus the Giants!

The Nats dropped a doubleheader to the Giants yesterday by the scores of 5-1 and 4-1.

Game 1

The Nats lost to Randy Johnson who earned his 300th victory of his career.

Pitching:

Jordan Zimmermann was outstanding in the lost as pitched 6 innings and gave up only up two runs. He also struck out seven batters

Ron Villone and Mike McDougal were excellent as they pitched the 7th and 8th inning respectively without giving up a run. Joel Hanrahan was terrible as he gave up 3 runs without recording an out in the 9th. Joe Beimel was able to close out the 9th without giving up a run.

Batting:

The Nats had only one run with five different Nats getting hits. Nick Johnson had the only RBI of the game.

Game 2

The Nats lost the second game in a rain shortern game to the Giant, 4-1.

Pitching:

Ross Detwiler gave up 4 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings in a game that was called in the 6th. Detwiler dropped to 0-2.

Batting:

The Nats got five different players to get a hit, but they only scored one run. Ryan Zimmerman got the only RBI of the game.

Record:

The Nats drop to 14-38 and continue to be in last place in the NL East.

Next Game:

The Nats welcome the New York Mets tonight to Nationals Park as Sharion Martis (5-1) takes on the Mets' Tim Redding (0-2) at 7:05pm.
