Craig Stammen got his first MLB victory of his career as he and 4 other relievers combined for the Nats first shutout of the year by beating the Yankees, 3-0. The Nats had stellar defense which contributed to the shutout. The Nats won their second series against the Yankees since 2006.
Pitching:
Stammen pitched 6.1 innings of shutout innings. Ron Villone, Julian Tavarez, and Joe Beimel all collected holds for their effort in the shut out. Mike MacDougal finished off the game earning his second save of the year.
Batting:
The Nats collected 8 hits and scored three runs in the win. Cristen Guzman and Ryan Zimmerman led the offense with three hits apiece. Adam Dunn also added two hits. Zimmerman, Dunn and Wil Nieves all had an RBI.
