The Nats fell behind by a score of 6-1 after six innings to the Red Sox, but fought back to close the game to a 6-4 but never got closer even though they got close with a Ryan Zimmerman drive which was caught at the wall with a runner on.
Pitching:
Craig Stammen pitched well early, but things fell apart in the 4th inning. He pitched 5.1 innings and gave up all six runs. The bullpen of Ron Villone, Julian Tavarez, Joe Beimel and Mike MacDougal pitched a combined 3.2 innings of shut out relief.
Batting:
The Nats collected 8 hits, but managed to score 4 runs. Cristen Guzman led the Nats with two hits and Josh Willingham had 2 RBI.

The Nats dropped to 20-49 and continue to be in last place of the NL East.
Next Game:
The Nats will complete their home stand tonight as they finish up with the Red Sox as Jordan Zimmermann takes on the Red Sox’s John Smoltz at 7:05pm.
