Nats' Nuggets 6.21.09

Hello Nats9 Fans....here are some random thoughts:
  • Joel Hanrahan has earned his pink slip and he is out of options! He should go and give Tyler Clippard a shot!
  • I love Austin Kearns, but the reality is that he is a great defensive sub for the late inning and that is about it. The Felipe Lopez and Austin Kearns trade from the Reds back in 2006 has run its course.
  • Elijah Dukes or Josh Willingham should either be the starting right field or they should be platooned.
  • Willie Harris deserves the starting Center Fielder Job! I can't see anyone else who plays center field like he does on the current Nationals' roster.
  • Would Manny give Josh Willingham a shot at first base if Nick Johnson is traded? We don't really know how good he is at that position compared to Adam Dunn. I believe Adam Dunn should stay in left field. The less touches is the best touches for Adam!
  • Do we see Alberto Gonzalez pushing Anderson Hernandez for the second base job?

My Cathedral!

We all have our own special place to keep our peace of mind. A place where you forget about everything! A place that removes you from reality and you find your “proverbally” home.

Some people go to church. Some go for a hike. Some go to a concert. I believe my cathedral at the moment is Nationals Park. I love baseball! I always wanted to go to a baseball park on regular bases and follow “My” Team. I always follow the Yankees as a younger man, but when the Nats came to town I thought this was my chance.

I adored RFK and love Nationals Park. I think I like it so much because it’s “OUR” Park. The atmosphere is incredible and it is only going to get better. I just come there and I forget everything! I am one with our Fans, opponent’s fans and the players. It is just great! I forget about the state of Nats because IT will get BETTER. I love this place!

Nationals Park is my special place! My Sanctuary! Yes, I find my peace of mind! GO NATS!

The Number 9 Capper!

I was at the Saturday night game as the Nats beatthe Mets,7-1. The Nats were doing their high five line to celebrate the victory. A fellow season ticket holder buddy, Rich, said to me to me , "Who is Number 9?". "I saw a number 9 give a high five and go into the dugout" said Rich. "Isn't your whole blog based on that their isn't a number 9 on the Nats" he continued. OOP! What did I do! I don't know what I know!

Hmmmmm! What did I do? Is their a number 9?

I first though? I never seen a number 9, but why now! Why number 9!?

Who is number 9? I first thought it was the new pitching coach, Steve McCatty. WRONG!

I feel really embarrassed! I have tickets on the first base side and the number 9 has been facing me the whole year! It isn't a player, but a coach. The first base coach, Marquis Grissom. He is number 9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can say at least that no new Nat player will wear the number 9 this year! Thanks Rich!

Players who have worn Number 9 for the Nats:
  • 2005 Vinny Castilla
  • 2006 Bernie Castro

MacDougal is the NEW MAN!

Mike MacDougal will become the Nats new closer and Joel Hanrahan will pitch in less pressure situations.

I wonder if Hanrahan would be best serve to go back to the minors and become a starter because of failure to become a major lead closer.
